Trenton Film Society to Screen Oscar-Nominated Short Films February 21-23

The Trenton Film Society presents their annual Oscar Shorts Festival at the Mill Hill Playhouse,Thursday, February 21, through Saturday, February 23. They will be screening the Oscar-nominated documentary, live action, and animated short films before the Oscars on Sunday, February 24.

The three categories of short films include a variety of films directed by filmmakers from around the globe from the U.S., Canada, Ireland, UK, Spain and China. The nominees demonstrate diverse stories.  U.S.-based Academy Award-winning filmmakers Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman probe the questions, “Where will loved ones spend their last days?, Who will be in the room?, What feelings and secrets need to be shared with family before it is too late?” in the context of two San Francisco Bay Area medical facilities on the forefront of creating new paradigms for end of life decisions with grace in “End Game”. In the Live Action category, Canadian director Jeremy Comte, brings us “Fauve” which tells the story of two boys who engage in a seemingly innocent power game with Mother Nature as the sole observer. Animated short nominee, Louise Bagnall, an Irish filmmaker created “Late Afternoon” a short about a elderly woman who lives between two states, the past and the present and journeys into an inner world reliving moments from her past searching for connections between the fragmented memories.   A full listing and descriptions of the films is available at www.trentonfilmsociety.org.

Documentary shorts - a two-part program will be shown on Thursday, February 21, at 6:30 pm and Friday February 22, at 7:00 pm with complimentary refreshments during intermission. Live Action and Animated Shorts will screen on Saturday, February 23, in separate programs, and will also screen together as a Saturday night double feature with a reception during intermission. Audience members are encouraged to vote on their picks to win the Oscars. Ballots that are correct will be entered into a drawing to win passes to the Trenton Film Festival, March 28-31, 2019.
