Virtual Chamber Music Wednesdays in July

June 17, 2020 [Princeton, NJ] – Princeton University Summer Chamber Concerts presents a virtual season this year, “Chamber Music Wednesdays in July”.

Right now, it seems like another life – sitting among hundreds of fellow music lovers in Richardson Auditorium to enjoy a free chamber music concert presented by Princeton University Summer Chamber Concerts.

The reality is that our 2020 season is not to be.  Instead of live concerts, we will offer presentations, with beautiful music and informative commentary each Wednesday in July at 7:30pm on our website at

On July 1st, members of the Diderot Quartet will demonstrate and perform using their historically sensitive approach to 18th and 19th century music for strings.  We’ll also be joined by luthier Jarek Powichrowski, from Princeton Violins, who will demonstrate the difference between 18th century and contemporary string instruments and speak of his work as a luthier.

Local pianist Clipper Erickson will play and discuss works by Nathaniel Dett on July 8th.

On July 15th, the Argus String Quartet plays Fanny Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in E flat, with commentary by Dr. Scott Burnham.

A Trio from the Manhattan Chamber Players will offer Beethoven’s String Trio in G major, Op. 9, no. 1 with commentary from MCP Artistic Director Dr. Luke Fleming on July 22nd.

Our final Wednesday, on July 29th will be a PUSCC encore performance from 2018 of the Poulenc Trio’s Trains of Thought by Princeton University composer, Viet Cuong, plus a version with animation.

Funding for Summer Concerts is provided by individual contributors, foundations, local corporations and a grant from the Mercer County Cultural & Heritage Commission.
