A fable of young love set against the backdrop of the exploding 1960s music scene – when England launched the little dust-up that became known as The British Invasion. Based on the experiences of Peter Noone, who was just a teenager willing to sacrifice international stardom for the sake of girl he loves, and featuring more than two dozen chart-topping hits from all the best British bands of the era. Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell choreographs and directs.

This premiere performance retells the dramatic tale of Diego de la Vega, the mysterious man behind the mask fighting to restore order in Spanish colonial California. Featuring spectacular sword-fighting, flamenco dance and dazzling magic – enhanced by the red-hot music of the Gipsy Kings. While the tale is set in 19th century California, the important influence of Latin and Spanish culture guarantees that its message remains relevant to today’s audiences.

The young superstar tenor Nicholas Phan will sing Franz Schubert's 1823 masterpiece of storytelling Die Schöne Müllerin accompanied by pianist Myra Huang.

A concert talk with the performers and David Lang, Artist-in-Residence, will follow the Friday evening performance. A reception will follow the Saturday evening performance in the Fuld Hall Common Room.

This concert is supported by a grant from the PNC Foundation. Tickets are required for the concert and are offered through an online registration system. As a member of the Institute community, you may request up to two tickets by visiting the following links. Please note that performances are not suitable for children under the age of eight.
