When the ship is taken over by pirates led by the fearsome Black Stache, the journey quickly turns into a thrilling adventure.

Princeton Pro Musica and the Roxey Ballet Present "Carmina Burana" Sunday, March 17, 2019, 4:00 pm Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall, Princeton University Princeton, NJ

The Princeton Pro Musica chorus and orchestra and Lambertville's Roxey Ballet present an encore performance of Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana," which played to sold-out audiences in 2017. Artistic Directors James Ryan Brandau (Princeton Pro Musica) and Mark Roxey (Roxey Ballet) have again collaborated to bring a fully realized production of the work as Orff intended, combining music, movement, and text, to the stage.

"Carmina Burana" draws from a collection of early 13th-century songs and poems—more than 1,000 of them, written in a mix of Latin, German, and medieval French—that was discovered in Beuren in 1803. Orff chose 24 songs and set them to music in what he termed a "scenic cantata." Originally conceived as a choreographed stage work, "Carmina Burana" is rarely presented with dance today. There will be a post-concert talk-back with Maestro Brandau and Mark Roxey at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are priced at $60, $45 and $25, $10 (under 21). There is a group discount of 20% for 10 or more. Order tickets online at www.princetonpromusica.org. For information on group sales, call (609) 683-5122.
