Singing teapots and candlesticks, an evil spell, and an unlikely love story are all part of the magic of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, an international sensation that has played to more than 35 million people in 13 countries. Based on the Academy Award–winning animated feature, the stage production includes all of the original songs from the movie by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, plus additional gems by Menken and Tim Rice. The whole family will be enchanted by this gorgeous production, featuring stunning costumes and sets, spectacular dance numbers, and, of course, a fairy-tale ending.

Metuchen-based Raconteur Radio presents a staged radio play that recreates Gertrude Stein’s famed Left Bank salon and invites the audience to spend the evening with Ernest Hemingway, Pablo Picasso, Isadora Duncan, Henri Matisse, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Salvador Dali, Alice B. Toklas, and, of course, the Mother Goose of Montparnasse herself, at 27 Rue de Fleurus. Gertrude Stein will be portrayed by Jane Hardy. The 55-minute production features theatrical lighting, period costumes, Golden Age radio equipment, sound effects and vintage commercials.

This year’s selection of outdoor film screenings features romantic comedies set in New York City, inspired by the exhibition Helen Frankenthaler Prints: Seven Types of Ambiguity and the artist’s experience living and working in the city. All films begin at sundown. In the event of rain, this film will be shown at 8:00 p.m. in 101 McCormick Hall. 

As two college friends build their lives and careers in Manhattan, they find love and heartache—with other people—but their paths continue to cross and their friendship continues to grow over the years . . . until they confront the decision of whether to let their friendship develop into romance.
