“Hysteria! Or, They Came Through the Air”, WWAC
Step back in time—and into the conversation of today—with the staged reading of Hysteria! Or, They Came Through the Air, an original play inspired by Orson Welles’s infamous 1938 War of the Worlds broadcast. Written by Greg T. Nanni, and directed by Kelly O’Donnell, this interactive and thought-provoking work explores the local and national legacy of the broadcast while drawing surprising parallels to our own era of media influence and “fake news.” Developed in collaboration with the Historical Society of West Windsor and acclaimed historian A. Brad Schwartz (Broadcast Hysteria), the play blends humor, history, and community voices to create an engaging audience experience.
