Book Discussion: Hard by a Great Forest, Princeton University Concerts and the Princeton Public Library
On Thursday, January 22 at 12PM, Princeton Public Library staff will lead a discussion of Leo Vardiashvili's debut novel Hard By a Great Forest, set in postwar Georgia. Through a deeply personal narrative shaped by displacement and return, the novel examines the long shadow of conflict and occupation. This community-wide book discussion—offered both in person at PPL and via Zoom—creates space to reflect on the human costs of geopolitical violence and the healing power of storytelling across artistic forms. The program is free, with registration required. Free. Registration required. In-person capacity full; Zoom registration remains available. Visit princetonlibrary.org or call 609-924-9529 to register and to learn more.

NYC - Then - Photography Exhibit , CMAP
Born in New York City in 1932 and raised in its metropolitan area, Ronald S. Schotland was captivated by the city’s evolving landscape, its architecture, street life, and quiet poetry of postwar New York. His black-and-white photographs taken during 1947–1964 while in high school and later as a college undergraduate and graduate student working towards a PhD in Chemistry preserve a time of transition — moments of grace and grit that shaped the city’s enduring character. In succeeding years his interest in photography continued as an avocation. Join us for this opening reception and artist discussion as Ron Schotland reflects on his process, the stories behind his images, and the enduring spirit of Old New York. Registration required, no fee. https://engage.cmaprinceton.org/component/events/event/1568
