Trenton Heritage Week 2026 July 4 - 8

New Jersey's capital city is preparing a monumental celebration to mark America's 250th Birthday, and
everyone is invited. "Heritage Week", running from July 4-8, 2026, will feature a multi-cultural parade
on July 4th with over 40 marching units, including bands, floats and re-enactors, as well as circus
performers, antique cars and representations of the many cultures and ethnic groups which make up
the Trenton community.
The parade will be followed by a multi-cultural festival entitled, "Democracy Reborn," in Mill Hill Park.
The festival will feature food, music, an escape room, soccer and hockey clinics, crafters and displays
by civic organizations.
Free parking will be provided in the City's five municipal parking garages. A visitors' center at
1 West State Street - the site of Washington's reception in 1789 - will guide guests to the many
events and historic sites throughout the city.
Programs continue on July 5th with an ecumenical service in the same church at which wounded
Hessian soldiers were brought to during the Battle of Trenton in 1776, as well as walking tours, and
a potluck supper.
At noon on July 8th, the City will re-enact the Proclamation of the Declaration of Independence at
the same time and place - 23 South Warren Street - as the first such reading in 1776. A second
reading at 6 p.m., July 8th, will include a concert by the 55 musicians of the Blawenburg Band
performing, "The Battle of Trenton," composed in 1792 by James Hewitt and dedicated to
George Washington.
All programs are free and open to the public. Heritage Week is sponsored by the
City of Trenton and the Trenton Kiwanis Club.

On tap are a July 4th parade of over 30 marching units (so far) through the site of the 1776 Battle of Trenton ending at a festival in historic Mill Hill Park - food, vendors, an escape room, soccer clinic and the "Democracy Reborn" stage program throughout the afternoon are just a few of the attractions. A visitors' center at 1 West State Street - the site of Washington's reception in 1789 -- will guide visitors to historic sites throughout the City, including the newly restored Old Barracks and the William Trent House.
