New Jersey’s most historic home is just three blocks from Palmer Square! Built for Founding Father Richard Stockton, Morven became the state’s first Governor’s Mansion. It’s distinguished as the only original house of a signer of the Declaration of Independence that’s open to the public.
Museum and gift shop hours are Wednesday-Sunday, 10 am-4 pm; the garden is open to the public daily from dawn until dusk. Currently on view is the permanent exhibition Historic Morven: A Window into America’s Past, as well as the special exhibitions Northern Family, Southern Ties (through 2028) and Morven Revealed: Untold Stories from New Jersey’s Most Historic Home (must end March 1). In addition, you’ll find engaging educational programs on history, culture, and civics, as well as special events. Each July 4th, Morven hosts a free Fourth of July Festival. To learn how Morven is commemorating America’s 250th, and to access guides to other American Revolutionary sites, visit morven.org/250908-788-0400
